Introduction

Pieken! is an initiative that offers primary school children a full day of hands-on experiences in art, technology and culture. Through creative workshops, children discover their talents, collaborate with others and are encouraged to grow in their own unique way.

The program is especially aimed at children for whom these kinds of experiences are not always accessible. Pieken! shows them: you matter, your ideas and talents are valuable.

What a Pieken! Day Looks Like

Each Pieken! day follows a four-part structure:

  • Morning
Inspiring workshops where children explore new materials, techniques or forms of expression — from dance and design to building and storytelling.
  • Lunch
A shared lunch, lovingly prepared by parents or community members. A moment for connection and rest.
  • Afternoon
Children creatively reflect on their experiences. They make something tangible that tells their own story.
  • Closing
The day ends with a presentation. Children proudly share what they have made, learned or discovered — with each other, with parents or with mentors.

wHY pIEKEN?!

Pieken! was born out of a shared desire to create meaningful opportunities for children growing up in environments where access to creative and cultural experiences isn’t a given. During their studies in Learning & Innovation, the initiators connected over conversations about education, inequality of opportunity and the power of experiential learning.

The question that kept coming back was:
What if we take action ourselves, alongside the good work already being done?

pIEKEN EN MOMENTUM sTUDIOS

Momentum Studios contributed to the design and implementation of Pieken!, helping shape a learning experience that is engaging, challenging and lasting. It reflects what we believe in: environments where children and young people receive genuine attention, learn by doing and build meaningful experiences.

Pieken! is a powerful example of that vision.
